I enjoy building novel things, trying to understand them, and seeing people use the results.
My current interests lie in machine learning and its application to software development. Most recently I've been working on the Copilot Model Improvement team building tools for measuring completion latency from our model under different workloads.
Before I came to GitHub Next I was Professor of Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at the University of Cambridge. I published research on a range of topics including: machine learning for program repair, Datalog, mobile phone security, virtual machine migration, smartphone energy consumption and the Computing for Green agenda.
